To my surprise, Crystal Castles‘s second Self Title turned out to be a refreshing addition to their previous releases. The album varies a lot more than their usual 8-bit/lo-fi (well, maybe not) and thrashes from fast & terribly recorded (in the best way) tracks to slow and ambient interludes that really make the album stand out as cohesive collection of songs. Fuck spending 30 bones on their live show but this album is worth a listen.
